The Road Not Taken

I think the poem, "The Road Not Taken" means to not just do what everyone else is doing or the more popular choice. Basically to do what you think is right or want. Not what other people do, to be your own person and make the right choice based on you. In this part of the poem is where I got that idea from:
"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
If you just follow what everyone else is doing, then you won't be your own person. For example, if you go for ice cream and everyone else get's chocolate, but you wanted vanilla, and you got chocolate anyway because everyone else did would be being a follower. But when everyone got chocolate and you got vanilla since you wanted it, you would be your own person and made your choice based on not what was more popular, but on what you wanted.
