Justice Project
I think that there are ways to make the project easier/better for next year's students. Like, explain more. When we did the bibliography, it was hard because I wasn't sure how to do it. I think you should keep the outline thing. It made it a lot easier when writing the essay. So, that's about all I think of for making it better.

Recommend
I would recommend my choice book to girls. More for girls who like to read romance books. I would recommend it to them because my book is mostly about that and I don't think guys would enjoy it very much. It was written more for girls.SO, I'd recommend this book to girls who like romance novels.

The Road Not Taken
I think the poem, "The Road Not Taken" means to not just do what everyone else is doing or the more popular choice. Basically to do what you think is right or want. Not what other people do, to be your own person and make the right choice based on you. In this part of the poem is where I got that idea from:
"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
If you just follow what everyone else is doing, then you won't be your own person. For example, if you go for ice cream and everyone else get's chocolate, but you wanted vanilla, and you got chocolate anyway because everyone else did would be being a follower. But when everyone got chocolate and you got vanilla since you wanted it, you would be your own person and made your choice based on not what was more popular, but on what you wanted.

Essay
I think my essay is going well. The challenging part was the research of everything. Some easy parts was putting it all together into an essay because I'm pretty good at it, in my opinion. The outline was helpful for setting up the essay. I think a lot of the research we did, we didn't actually need. I basically only used the research on the case I did. I need more instruction in the whole citation thing. All in all, I think I did pretty well on the essay.

Conflict
There are a couple of conflicts happening in my book, so I'll just pick one of them. Dakota's girlfriend got in a car accident and died. He had to speek at her memorial service and he got mad at her younger brother and attacked him. Dakota got suspended for 5 days. His mom made him stay with his grandparents while he was suspended, whom he hates. I think when he goes back to school, he will have to apologize to her brother and stuff.

Main Character
In my book, there is more than one maine character. It has points of view from 4 different people. So far, there has been two which is Jena and Dakota. So far, I like Jena better because I can relate more to her than Dakota. We are the around the same age and stuff. So, so far my favorite character is Jena.

Article
I think Justice was not served in that article. He only smuggled them because he thought they were fascinating and he made his living off of them. They should have given him a less harsh punishment. 20 years and a $250,000 fine was too much for this case. So, justice was not served in this article.

Definition of Justice
There are many definitions of Justice. My definition is fairness. Justice is to be fair and to do the right thing. To give justice is to be fair with the consequences. Fairness is my definition of justice.

Introduction
Sometimes you have to follow your gut and do what you believe is the right thing to do, even if it’s hard. In the book Of Mice and Men, George did the right thing by killing Lennie at the end of the novel because Lennie was a harm to other people. This is shown in 3 different reasons. That Lennie was dangerous to other people/animals since he’s so strong and kills things accidentally. Also, even when they run away to start a new life, Lennie still gets into trouble. Another reason is that he holds George back and George loses jobs because of him. Lennie was a nuisance to himself and others.

Topic I Chose
I chose the topic #1. I chose this because it's the topic I feel I know the most about. I also think it would be easier for me to write about. Another reason is that all the others were too hard. So, I chose topic #1 for the essay.
BTW: I wrote airplane driver. I'm sorry that I couldn't remember what it was called!!!!!! :[

Best Friends.
I think that George and Lennie are best friends. They do everything together. They travel, work, and help each other. When one gets into trouble, the other helps them out or they run away together. So Lennie and George are definatley best friends.

Book Ending
I think that in the ending, George and Lennie will run away again. Since Lennie killed Curley's wife they are probably going to run away and start a new life again. Also, in other situations when Lennie go into trouble, they ran away. And lastly, George told Lennie that if he got into trouble to meet in that certain spot and they'll take of. So, I think that they will just run away again.

How are you a great friend?
I am a great friend to all of my friends. I am one because I'm really good at listening and giving out advice. I also don't tell anything to anyone when the person who told me told me not to. So I can keep secrets. I do many things to show my friends how much I care. Like, I'll just buy little things for them for no reason If i see something they would like. Also, when they call me in the middle of the night needing help with something, I'll answer and talk to them. And a lot of other things I can't think of right now. (: (: (: (: (: (:

Is Lennie a burden?
I think that Lennie is a burden to George to some degree. I think this because he has to keep Lennie out of trouble. He alos has to explain things to him and remind him about things since he always forgets. George can't just leave and go somewhere, he has to take Lennie with him to keep an eye on him. Life would be a lot easier for George if he didn't have Lennie.

Favorite Character
My favorite character that we have read about it Lennie. He is my favorite because he is just a really nice guy. He doesn't mean the things he does. Like, killing small animals or touching that girl's dress. He doesn't understand things but he tries to do the right thing. He's just an overall really nice guy trying to do right.

Halloween Costume
I don't dress up for Halloween anymore. If i had to dress up this year, though, I would dress up as a guy. I think it would be fun to dress up as a guy for a night. Like have on the baggy clothes and big sweatshirt. Also, put my hair into a hat and draw on facial hair on my face with eyeliner. I think it would be pretty fun to dress up as a guy for Halloween but I don't like to dress up anymore. I just usually go out with my friends and walk around in our pajamas.

Did you like the beginning of the book?
I didn't really like the beginning because I thought it was boring. But most book's beginnings are boring anyway. I thought it was boring because it was just telling about them walking around and getting ready for a job interview. There wasn't really much going on in it anyway. Also they were just like telling each other stories and stuff. It was really boring.

What makes a great friend?
There many things that make a great friend. Honesty is a big factor of it. And so is trust. You have to be trustworthy and always be honest to be a good friend. You should probably have the same interested and be able to make people laugh. Also being fun to be with and hang out with. A good friend should understand you and stuff like that. There are so many things that make a great friend so great.

Essay
The part that would be easy on writing the paragraph is the conclusion, in my opinion. I think that would be the easiest because you are just wrapping up your essay and you basically re-state what's in your introduction. I'm worried about getting a bad grade on it. I'm worried because I'm not very good at writing essays unless it's something I'm interested in. Which writing essays about a book isn't something I'm interested in. So I really hope that I get a good grade on it.

Did you like TSB?
I didn't like Touching Spirit Bear because of the ending. I thought the ending wasn't a good one. It didn't tell what had happened after Peter and Cole made up. It didn't say when they got off the island or what happened when they got off. Also, what happened to Cole after the island. Like if he went to jail or went to live with his mom or dad. Stuff like that. I think that if the ending was different and told what had happened after that, I would have liked it more.

A Case of Injustice
This article was about a man (Dennis Counterman) who supposedly set fire to his house to kill his family. He denies ever trying to set the fire. It was said that there have been a history of fires at that house. That the kids set fire to it times before on accident when playing with matches or lighters. When the fire started, he tried to put it out but the flames and smoke made him have to evacuate. Not being able to get to his family, he was screaming and crying. They gave him the death penalty saying that he was tired of a family life so he set the fire to kill them. He knew he was innocent but they didn't believe him, being the only one not killed or severely injured. Dennis Counterman still remains in prison accepting nothing but his freedom.
I just typed in "A case of injustice" into Google and it was the first one that came up. But I picked it after I looked at some other ones(:

Teresa Lewis
Teresa Lewis should get the death penalty. She made a plot with two other men to kill her husband and step son. It doesn't matter if she's boarder line mentally retarded. Also, she only married him for his money. And she also left the door of their home so the men would have easier access. She came up with the idea and paid the men to do it. She manipulated them.

How do you deal with anger?
I deal with anger by telling my best friend about it. Like if I'm mad about something, I'll call or text her. And she usually helps me feel better about it. Like she'll either tell me I'm wrong or just talk to me. Or I'll either just go somewhere and sit by myself or go for a walk. Wainwright field is near my house so sometimes I like to go there. Stuff like that.

Do you think Cole's second attempt on the island will be successful?
I think his second attempt on the island will be successful because he knows what to expect. He won't annoy the bear anymore or burn everything.

Should Maine change the legal age to drive to 18?
Maine should not change the legal age to drive to 18 because that wouldn't be fair. Everyone waits the whole teenage life to turn 16 to drive. Plus, parents wouldn't like it either because they would have to drive their kids around for two more years. It should stay 16 because kids usually have jobs by then and their parents wouldn't be able to drive them there all the time. They just shouldn't change it. It wouldn't be fair.

School Vandalism Consequences
I think a good punishment for the 17 year old boy who broke in to the school is jail, paying for all the damage, and fixing the school. He should go to jail for awhile. Probably a year or something. He should have to pay for all of the damage he did. Also, he should have to help fix and clean up the school. What he did was very wrong and he deserves all of the consequences.

How can I be a better citizen at SPHS?
I could be a better citizen at South Portland High School by joining more clubs and stuff. Also, by helping clean up the school (litter, graffetti, ect.). I could also be one of the Ambassadors or library helper. And lastly, staying after school to volunteer to help teachers.

What I Think Justice Is
I think that justice is for everything to be equal and fair. No matter how old you are, old or young. If something was intentional, like killing, they should be punished in some way. Justice is doing the right thing. To be fair and equal to everyone, no matter what.

What is Justice?
I think that justice is being fair. Being fair to everyone around you whether you like them or not. Also, always doing the right thing even if you have a different opinion.

School Uniforms
SPHS students should not be required to wear school uniforms because dressing in your own style shows who you are. It also lets you express yourself through clothing and stand out from other people. If we had to wear uniforms everyday, we would all look the same and wouldn't be able to express ourselves with our clothes.
